¦ Consultant ¦ Entrepreneur ¦ Commentator ¦David Ryder has been advising senior executives of multinational corporations for twenty years on strategy, change, alliances and leadership. He is an ex-partner of CSC Index, the inventors of Business Reengineering, and has been an independent consultant for the past ten years. David is also building new businesses of his own putting ideas, capital and experience to work in Africa and learning a huge amount in the process about what works, about resourcefulness, about social contribution, and about surprises, messes and impossible tasks. He is not afraid of getting his hands dirty or directing a bulldozer!His consulting and entrepreneurial ventures are collective endeavours. David’s preferred working style is highly participative and team based. He works in partnership with other consultants and client teams to design and implement change. Change occurs when people make informed and responsible choices and develop internal commitment to these choices. This takes place when those who run the business participate and drive the change process. He finds the roles he takes up as entrepreneur expansive and highly challenging. My philosophy that binds consulting and entrepreneurship is “it’s everyone’s job to develop people and teams”. He co-designs approaches that deal with power and politics (often a taboo subject) as well as the structures, routines and business models. In principle he accepts that “nothing should be the way it is”.David holds a BA (Hons) and MA Organisational Consulting from City University and an MBA from Columbia University. He is also fluent in French and Italian.
