Develop and implement national and international landscape ecology research programs focused on disturbance regimes (wildfire), spatial heterogeneity, and temporal heterogeneity. Programs are primarily conducted at a landscape to regional scale that requires negotiating collaborations and partnerships between multiple organizations. Create a research presence for the University of San Francisco in large research efforts. Present findings in world class settings including conferences, invited working groups, to policy makers, and to industry. Incorporate undergraduate students into existing programs.

Manage human, financial, and technological resources to meet the strategic needs of active research programs, as well as, future departmental course offerings. *Outreach: Fostered partnerships between academic, governmental, non-profit and professional organizations that allowed for new educational and research opportunities. Strategically integrated geo-spatial science and landscape ecology into multiple research programs and departments in a way that promoted interdisciplinary collaborations. Created a geo-spatial resource center that is utilized by the academic, nonprofit and private sectors. Provide guidance, technical oversight, and trained intern students for non-profit organizations and institutions.

Established Spatial Informatics Group (SIG) as a boutique interdisciplinary environmental think-tank specializing in complex environmental geo-spatial problems at the landscape scale. Managing partner of SIG which consists of principals, employees, affiliates, strategic partners and collaborators located in multiple geographic areas. Management duties include: *Strategic management of corporate financial affairs including resource optimization, business development, program management, contract management, and long-term budgeting.*Maintaining a fresh strategy and vision consistent with our corporate mission including developing services consistent with market needs and state of the art science, developing collaborations and partnerships to fill gaps and for competitive advantages, and building capacity based on strategic objectives.*Strategic management of human capital including team building, training programs, incentive alignments, developing productive work environments, leveraging expertise and diversity, promoting a high standard of corporate ethics, and optimizing human capital within the financial, scientific and temporal constraints of a given program.*Building coalitions around strategic objectives by developing networks with State and Federal governments, foreign governments, local and international non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and the private sector. Coalition development includes aligning common goals and incentives, developing formal and informal partnerships, and negotiating or influencing coalition interests to external and internal stakeholders. *Strategic management of technology including developing internal management systems, maintaining state-of the art technological infrastructure, and optimizing information resources based on shifting needs.

Established Spatial Informatics Group-Natural Assets Laboratory (SIG-NAL) in 2011 as non-profit scientific research entity with the idea of creating a network of professionals interested in developing the scientific foundations for a green economy. The organizations vision is to incorporate the true value of natural assets into the goods and services we depend upon within our economic systems. SIG-NAL’s mission is to develop and apply the scientific foundation needed to link economic and environmental interests by accounting for the full value of natural assets. The organization works to integrate the science of natural assets with tools, policies and management decision-making for public benefit. The non-profits makes science accessible to decision makers and the marketplace in an actionable format. As a Board Member I am tasked with developing the organizational capacity, setting the strategic vision, and assisting with tactical realities of a small non-profit.

Program manager of the Sierra Nevada Adaptive Management Program, UC Science team. This team consists of 10 principal investigators from three Universities and UC cooperative extension conducting a complex array of integrated studies. Duties include: *Contributing to the intellectual development and leadership of SNAMP by continuing professional development, including attending and participating in scientific meetings and contributing to scientific publications.*Fostering, developing, and coordinating research activities, including meetings, field site visits, and workshops necessary to conduct the SNAMP research.*Managing the overall science team budget (projected budget: $18 million for 7 years).*Developed and administered project management software that served both the science team and agency partners in tracking the status / products of this research enterprise.

Designed, organized, and executed major collaborative ecological research projects utilizing landscape ecology, geographic information systems, ecosystem modeling, remote sensing, and field campaigns in Hawaii, California and South Africa. Mentored and supervised student researchers working on related components of individual research projects.

Assisted in establishing a center for Geographic Information Systems at U.C. Berkeley; contributed to the curriculum of over forty short courses in GIS for environmental scientist; designed, taught and created web pages for several short courses including Introduction to GIS, Advanced GIS, Introduction to Public Digital Data and Integrating Public Digital Data.

Managed and successfully completed biogeochemistry experiments which required the use of highly technical equipment including autoanalyzers, gas chromatographs, and mass spectrometers. Supervised undergraduate researchers working on related project components, as well as, trained and assisted graduate student research. Organized and managed field campaigns in Hawaii, California and South Africa. Supervised the collection, organization, and analysis of all field samples and resulting data sets on concurrent projects. Provided technical expertise on numerous publications and meetings.

Conducted biogeochemistry and remote sensing experiments including nutrient budgeting and multi-spectral analysis. Implemented field campaigns in Hawaii and throughout California with field crews. Accountable for the collection, organization, and analysis of all field samples and resulting data sets.
