I am in my 14th year of teaching high school science. Since 2006, I have taught a wide variety of courses, at both the general and Advanced Placement levels. The courses I have taught: Advanced Placement Biology, Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Astronomy, Earth Science, General Biology, Meteorology, and Oceanography. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I have rewritten several science curricula to match the requirements of the Next Generation Science Standards.At the college level, I taught Marine Biology, Life in Extreme Environments, and Perspectives in Agriculture and the Environment. In addition to my teaching duties, I served on various university committees, and acted as faculty mentor for a freshmen dormitory. My doctoral dissertation and post-doctoral research focused on using molecular biological techniques to study applied and environmental microbiology. Some of my specialties include: aerobic and anaerobic culturing, aseptic techniques, DNA extraction from environmental samples, DNA sequencing and analysis, PCR primer design, PCR, RT-PCR, and Southern blots.
