The Mariner 4i had a full hardware implemented 386 PC daughter card which shared the ISA bus with a high performance Sparc processor. Novel I/O bus architecture allowed for the 386 PC to operate in a 100% hardware compatible environment. PC display was hardware mixed with SunOS X windows display. Developed complete OS support for 386 PC hardware including PC file system emulation, advanced BIOS emulation, SunOS device driver support, video display support. Wrote board level firmware and OS driver software for an S-bus multi-port serial card running under SunOS.
