Making Operation Department Manager
Responsible for the key supply chain results in the Making Department, the coaching and development of the team, ensure the department is equipped and resourced to be able to deliver the product as efficiently as possible 24hrs per day. The main challenge of this assignment was managing the department and maintaining all KPI / cost results throughout a site closure, with a business decision being made to relocate all production to Europe.Responsibilities Included:• Responsible for all department key results in safety, quality, service, cost and capability.• Manage a team of 32 in a cross functional department, 8 direct reports including Engineering technicians, Team Leaders, Electrical technicians, Material Process Delivery technician and Initiatives Start Up Leader.• Manage each area of the department, warehouse inbound / outbound, manufacture / supply of Fine Fragrance and Hair Colour products.• Manage redundancy critical path schedules, review process while maintaining KPI's and supporting people to achieve successful outcomes and future employment.• Manage department cost centre, ensuring budget is set on time, review and forecasting.• Support everyone in the department to gain successful outcomes, helping with CV creation and sponsor for 6 sigma green belt accreditation projects.Key achievements included:• Delivered all KPI results in safety, quality, service, cost and capability at or above target while managing the team through site closure.• 96% successful outcomes achieved for all individuals within the department.• Supplied 500,000kg fine fragrance bulk to European sites, on stretch timings with diminishing head count.• Delivered key metrics at or above target, service at >99.9% and unplanned downtime at <0.1%.• Coached individuals to become 6 Sigma Green Belt certified.
Start Up Leader Project Management
Responsible for the re-platforming of the current Making department to deliver a 50% reduction in manufacturing costs for each bulk batch made, deliver 50% reduction of inventory on hand, in line with the site end to end supply chain vision and re-platform the department to double productivity with no additional head count required. Additional responsibilities included facility and standards ownership for the department, waste system ownership delivering cost saving projects, transitioning into a startup leader / process engineer role, site Loss Map Owner and AM pillar member training new graduates in run to target systems.Responsibilities Included:• Manage a multi-discipline team through early design consultation, learning plan execution, full end to end loss analysis, critical path scheduling, vendor acceptance testing, generation & update of all standards and procedures. • Ensure all safety, quality and integrated work systems are incorporated into all new equipment and facilities.• Key sponsor for all change control / review of all change management, new vendor set up, creation / approval of invoices, management of both internal / external contractors and inventory management for new equipment spares.• Responsible for all pre-pro budget elements and reporting results to external stakeholders and project sponsors monthly.• Technical training and transfer of all new standards and procedures. • Work closely with category R&D to validate new procedures.Key Achievements included:• New Flex Batch making system installed passing all IQ/OQ/PQ phases, exceeding all targets with a vertical start up delivering $1.3M Inventory saving and $1.1M waste saving per year:• Reduced man hour time to double productivity through Work Process Improvement analysis, total of 846hrs per year savings delivered• Total waste saving of $490K delivered. • Lean manufacturing Loss Map owner for site, all departments supported to have a standard system in place.
Line Operations Manager
Responsible for all line production results, for the coaching and development of the employees within the team. As the first line leader on site during our P&G Integrated Work Systems journey, I had the responsibility of working with the leadership team to define the role, generate training / qualification material, as well as helping to develop benchmark daily run to target systems and IWS approaches to deliver key site KPI’s. A member of the Autonomous Maintenance pillar with ownership for the site RCO system, responsible for the development of RCO, as a run to target system, developing training / qualification material, establishing line system ownership, running reviews and reporting results to the plant lead team monthly.• Leading the daily direction setting meeting and analysis of daily results. • Planning all daily production activities, including coaching and focused improvement problem solving workshops.• Implementation and training of all new IWS systems and tools for my area of ownership and to other lines as the site RCO system owner.• Development of the Line Leader training package, including daily DDS approach, results analysis tools, and training requirements.• Preparing the production team for phase audits and external auditor reviews.• Reapplication of all IWS standards from production line F13 to production line F14.Key Achievements Included:• IWS phase 2,3 & 4 audits passed. One of only 13 sites to achieve this mile stone out of 130 sites worldwide within P&G.• First qualified Line Operations Manager on site.• Loss analysis improvements delivering 5% cost savings and 7.5% productivity improvement per annum.• Process reliability improvement for line F13 from 68% to >86%, line F14 from 76% to >86%.• Unplanned downtime on both F13 & F14 from >9.8% to <4%.• Fragrance department Rapid Change over time reduction, from 38min to 15min.
Production Start Up Team Leader
Leading, and part of the team bringing a brand new production line, generating and organising all people and training activities, vendor acceptance travel, integrating current systems and all start up CPS planning.
