I co-founded Elite Performance Partners, a selection and advisory firm working within elite sport and specialising in performance. Our clients vary from Premier League and Championship football, rugby, tennis, cycling and cricket teams to national governing bodies. The roles we place vary from the board room to the physio room but typically we work with clubs to place their senior leaders and then help them build their teams.At EPP we look to follow the high performing principles we identify in our clients, including a focus on learning. As well as studying for an Executive MBA myself, I look to share with, and learn from, those in our industry as much as I can and regularly speak at events. I also tutor on courses including The FA’s Level 5 for Technical Directors, VSI’s MSc in Sporting Directorship and the MSc in Sports Business and Leadership at Loughborough University and regularly contribute to the Training Ground Guru website. EPP was born out of a realisation that very few search consultants in the UK have a playing career behind them. Having played rugby professionally for Orrell, Harlequins and Connacht, I transitioned to a role in executive search whilst captaining semi-professional side, Esher in the English Championship and soon noticed that the rigour and process found within search in the corporate world was seldom found within the performance side of sport. Our business has naturally developed into the advisory space given our focus on creating high performance environments and building winning teams - and the unique helicopter view working with such a broad client base across the performance space affords.
