Managing Director
Colchester, United Kingdom
Promoted to the position of Managing Director taking on responsibility for all aspects of the business including the sales, marketing and e-commerce functions and budget responsibility for entire business. I initiated a strategic review of the business in late 2012 which, as well as highlighting key growth opportunities and risks, included a five year business plan to bring sustainable revenues in a challenging and changing market. We instigated a number of measures to:• Establish a ‘club’ culture to secure the loyalty of the top 20% of our client base and re-branded and re-launched our most lucrative subscription program. Membership of the program has increased steadily and is now the main focus of the business and it’s development.• Engage new clients through new sales channels, particular through the development of a comprehensive Ecommerce platform and a significantly improved mobile optimised online experience• Develop a culture of excellent customer experience, drawing new interest in our business. We did this through reducing individual working hours and extended business hours, implementing a non-monetary incentive scheme and allowing employees to run with their ideas. In 2015 Majestic purchased Naked Wines and I worked effectively with new CEO Rowan Gormley to manage the business into a position where Lay & Wheeler could be incorporated within the larger group. The work included:• participating in the review, and creation of, a transformational plan with all PLC Directors• revision, update and presentation of the Lay & Wheeler strategic plan• obtained approval for significant investment in the business• continued use of diplomatic people skills to full effect, always making sure that the dedicated team remained focused and energised whilst change was implemented
