I have 25 years experience in ICTs and their relationship with development, environment, governance and rights - since 2003 as an independent expert working for a number of United Nations agencies and running the consultancy business ict Development Associates; before that as chief executive of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation. I am a visiting senior fellow at the London School of Economics and was formerly visiting professor in communications management at Strathclyde University.I was lead consultant on the ten-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society for the UN's Commission on Science and Technology for Development (see http://unctad.org/en/PublicationsLibrary/dtlstict2015d3_en.pdf) and have worked extensively on ICT and development issues for the ITU, UNCTAD, UNESCO, the World Bank and many other organisations.I write a weekly comment blog on ICT and Internet issues - Inside the Information Society - for the Association for Progressive Communications (https://www.apc.org/en/blog/).
