Responsible for developing a flexible multiprocessing software architecture, which can accommodate a variety of interactive devices, computer graphics, and displays, as well as software simulation capabilities.• Tested and evaluated digital image compression techniques, and defined a vector quantization algorithm for the display of digitized navigational charts. These techniques are now used as the standard for digitized map products across military services.• On a research project, and with follow-on support from Rome Laboratory, investigated three-dimensional graphics and display technologies for battle management. Examined the graphics capabilities of super graphic workstations with respect to the needs of three-dimensional terrain visualization. • Developed an algorithm for stereoscopic visual simulation of terrain scenes. Developed a unique algorithm for creating a polygonal model of a terrain surface based on sampled data. Designed and wrote the software for interactive terrain visualization.
