Jewish House helps families and individuals through life issues and crisis. Non-denominational and flexible to the diverse needs of individuals, help is provided to people who are affected by the issues of homelessness, domestic violence, mental health issues, substance abuse, financial crisis to name but a few. With a holistic crisis management approach, which includes crisis prevention, management and follow up, it has grown to become a welcome refuge for an ever expanding range of people, improving the well being and independence of people in crisis by ensuring the best possible outcomes. Jewish House services include a counselling centre, crisis accommodation, a telephone crisis line, care coordination, group therapy sessions and information forums.The overall objective of this contract role was to add strength and robustness to Jewish House to position the organisation for the future, in addition to taking responsibility for certain functions as determined to support the CEO, plus investigate new business opportunities.

During this period I specialised in working with younger entrepreneurs in the Performing and Creative Arts industries. I pioneered working with paradigm-breaking entrepreneurs at the start-up stages of their business – “Upstarts” - by mentoring, commercialising and bringing their ventures to market. This allowed me to develop great communication, coaching and conceptual skills which I still use today. As an Executive Producer with 5 am Films / Onwaecan Media the role I played was to understand and help guide the nuances and idiosyncrasies of an artistic based business and a brilliant and highly creative individual. Having a parallel life in the performing arts helped!

Business DNA was conceived by me to carry out and invest in projects that assist young people to realise their potential. The first project was the Breakthrough - Music Business for Young Entrepreneurs programme - a course designed to foster entrepreneurship, develop business skills and maximise growth potential & sustainability for small businesses in the music industry. Funding was obtained via the Federal Government’s Small Business Entrepreneurship Programme, thus there was no cost to participants. Breakthrough completed in March 2008 after I personally coached over 300 individual music industry entrepreneurs.

OHR provided outsourced human resources services to companies without an HR function as well as supplementing existing HR services as required. We delivered strategic and bottom-line focused “just-in-time” solutions that revolutionised the delivery of HR services to small and medium businesses. I played a integral role in growing a start-up business from 2 employees to a maximum of 30. The lessons learned here stay with me every day and inform my coaching and mentoring of current clients.

Successfully sourced and completed executive searches for a variety of board and senior executive roles.This work broadended my horizons considerably given the nature of the work at Board level.
