About David Starfield

David Starfield, a retired senior attorney at the law firm of Starfield & Smith, had the honor of serving as Counsel to NAGGL and its Board of Directors. For Starfield & Smith, David’s practice focused on lender compliance with SBA program requirements. To this end, David, oversaw the closing and documentation of SBA loans; reviewed lenders’ SBA loan portfolios and their policies and procedures; provided advice on guaranty purchase matters; advised on technical questions pertaining to SBA loan eligibility; and notified lenders and their in-house counsel of changes in SBA rules and regulations. For NAGGL, David taught the Advanced SBA Loan Documentation & Closing, How to Get SBA to Honor its Guaranty, and Closing and Funding courses. He also spoke frequently at conference breakout sessions, presented webinars to NAGGL members, and contributed articles for NAGGL’s In Focus publication. David is a past recipient of the SBA Financial Services Champion of the Year award (Eastern PA) and NAGGL’s “Distinguished Service Award,” and has been recognized as a “Life Fellow” by the ABA’s American Bar Foundation for his contributions to the legal profession.
