CBSI is a family-owned business that was started by Lou Suter in 1986. I was the Vice President from 2004 to 2017 and now the company President. I am a Servant Leader by heart and my daily responsibilities include running the operations of the business, marketing, overseeing staff on the projects we are managing and managing multiple projects on my own. I have managed several ground up building projects, infrastructure upgrades, power plant upgrades, tenant improvements, along with multiple complicated relocation projects. Between 1998 and 2008 I managed over 50 projects for the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District and spent 5 of those years as the acting Facilities Manager during the implementation of their $205M Construction Bond. Prior to working at CBSI, I was the Facility Manager at CCN, a local managed healthcare provider. I am a Past President for the San Diego Chapter of the International Facility Managers Association (IFMA). I remain active on the chapters executive board and help keep the communications and website current. Acting Facility ManagerCuyamaca College Mar 1999 - Dec 2008El Cajon, Ca, UsCuyamaca College acting Facilities Manager Coordinate with Vice President of Administrative Services and College President on daily facilities issues. In role of Facility Manager, act as liaison between Cuyamaca College and construction program management firm hired to manage a $205M Bond Measure for construction. Projects included 260,000 sq. ft. of new building space, infrastructure upgrades, energy efficiency projects, and building modernizations. Responsible for coordinating all construction impacts to college including giving presentations to administration and staff and scheduling of campus closures around construction projects. Created campus design standards for new projects. Assisted in the design and implementation of new Audio Visual standards in over 50 classrooms. Assisted in the hiring of architects, engineers, and construction management teams. Responsible for constructability reviews of all projects. Coordinated the installation of new and existing FF&E on all projects including working directly with subcontractors in the field to verify correct placement of utilities prior to drywall installation or concrete pours. Managed the relocation into new buildings along with secondary effects moves. Responsible for after construction follow up including building warranty issues, construction defects, additional user requests, and training faculty and staff on use of classroom Audio Visual systems.Signage Project - Managed the project from Pre Design to Project Completion. My scope of work included renumbering every room on the campus, creating a spreadsheet showing the existing room numbers, new room numbers and sign types for each room and helping in the design of actual sign types. The project included over 1500 signs. I was responsible for the inspection of all installation. Project cost $300,000. -
Facilities ManagerCcn 1991 - 1998Responsible for the physical plant operations of the 133,000 sq. ft. corporate office. Directed the physical plant operations of 60 field offices nationwide. Managed tenant improvements of 200,000 sq. ft. of office space. Managed the warehouse function including shipping/receiving. Designed and implemented new security system at corporate office. Lead facilities team on the design and installation of several thousand modular furniture stations including all of the electrical and voice and data cabling. This includes projects at the corporate facilities along with the 60 field offices nationwide.
