About David Sutherland

As an IT Executive, I am committed to driving effective Business solutions through:IT Innovation: Developing innovative IT solutions that drive the overall competitive advantage targeted by an organizations business strategy. Business Alignment: A Solution also requires a strong understanding of the business needs that the solution supports. This coupled with clear communications and being able to share the vision with business stakeholders will drive support and acceptance of the solution. Organizational Leadership: Normally IT organizations are internally silo’d into individual competencies. Success is not only a successful implementation but also the ability to adapt and grow with the business. To do this strong leadership and communication is critical in taking a normally divided IT team and creating a single organization with shared goals that support the business strategy. Service Excellence: Excellence is achieved when teams have a strong understanding and alignment with the business they support. I consistently implement solutions that they design are not in a technical silo design but rather an integrated solution where all team members are focused on quality and the role they play in the delivery of that solution. One that is designed to support today’s needs and projected future business direction, while being delivered on the optimal technical platform in the most efficient manner.Project Management - Waterfall, Agile & RDP - Negotiations - Process Digitalization - IT Governance - Process Analysis & Redesign - Acquisitions & Divestitures - Solution Design & Architecture SLA Management - Resource Planning - RFP/RFI Creation & Response - Cloud computing migration - P&L Management - Portfolio Rationalization & Modernization - Budgeting - Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning Team Leadership - SCM & ERP - Risk Management - Application Development & Delivery (DevOps), Business Relationship Management, Client Relations, Team Management

  • Keane
    Director
    Keane 2010 - 2011
    London, United Kingdom , Gb
During my tenure at Keane I led the delivery of their North American Financial Services. Strategy and notable initiatives included:• Service delivery quality enhancements• Achieve consistent project and development methodologies across the team• Nurture and maximize team moral and reduce unplanned attrition • Improve deal conversion rates and the quality of deal solutioningPart of Keane’s vision is to maintain a highly supportive working environment. Change agents are encouraged and continuous improvement is highly valued. By leveraging this passion with all of my team, team members we were able to achieve all of our goals in a very short time. With a global team of 250 people, I focused on empowering local leaders in each location while eliminating the “us versus them” mentality which is common in off shoring. In doing so we drove a culture of “one global team” aligned by clients. By streamlining and harmonizing processes we evolved into a cohesive organization focused on delivering customer commitments as priority. We took great pride in assessing each client’s internal organization while identifying outsourcing opportunities and we mentored their CIO’s, on how to achieve outsourcing successes for all involved. This paved the way for many new deals to be closed and recurring revenue flourished because the trust between Keane and our customers were second to none.
  • Eds, An Hp Company
    Application Delivery Executive
    Eds, An Hp Company 2003 - 2010
    Houston, Texas, Us
HP is an company which operates on a grand scale and provides an extraordinary range of services. At the core of my success, lies an an entrepreneurial focus and drive to deliver profitability and satisfaction to every customer. These pillars of attitude became the catalyst of my team’s success. Our enthusiasm and pride in service deliverables allowed for the consistent transformations to occur in just a few months. We repeatedly focused on several key areas:• In-depth knowledge of financials and delivery commitments• Organizational change management – putting the right people in key roles and empowering them to succeed• Transparent and holistic communications and realistic expectations both with the internal team and every client • Analysis of process and redesign with a focus on simplification• The mantra of “One Team with Collective Responsibility for Success” regardless of locationBy utilizing these key areas we maximized highly talented HP professionals (both on and off shore) and removed common contractual, process or cultural, barriers that had previously prevented success. This held true from single programs e.g. implementing SAP ERP on time and within budget through to major account restructuring where a customer intent on termination reversed their decision and ended up signing a $108 million contract extension.A strength of HP was to recognize success and skills within the delivery organization and provide opportunities for people to expand on their strengths. This allowed me to participate and then lead the architecting of several large deals (all $100 million plus) that were successfully sold and delivered as per the agreed contract.
  • The Dial Corporation
    Senior Consultant
The Dial Corporation Feb 2002 - Aug 2003
    Us
While Dial was embarking on a major corporate systems revamp, I had the pleasure to serve under the leadership of the new CIO Evon Jones. During my 18 month tenure I led three highly complex and critical initiatives. The first was to define the business needs and select a maintenance system which resulted in the development of a software and vendor selection methodology that was subsequently launched company-wide for the selection of other key products. Using this methodology we identified a SaaS solution Called WebWerks from Terro Consulting. This service was implemented at Dial with no customization and because this was a SaaS it negated the need for capital expenditure.Additionally we utilized the software and vendor selection methodology to select a new HR product (PeopleSoft 8.3 HRMS) and a new system for their Insurance function (RiskMaster from CSC). The technical teams I led in the implementation of both RiskMaster and PeopleSoft HRMS were outstanding. Due to our collaboration, work ethic, and innovation skills all initiatives were delivered within time and budget expectations, while at the same time providing the full business requirement functionality with minimal customization.
  • Cargill Plc
    European Plant It Systems Manager
    Cargill Plc Jan 1996 - Jan 2001
    Wayzata, Minnesota, Us
During my tenure I led the Plant IT Systems for 40 locations in 9 different countries. The Cargill culture is one where innovative ideas and dedication are valued and rewarded. It is no surprise that this ideology has resulted in ensuring that Cargill remains one of the world’s largest privately held companies due to its very diverse portfolio and an entrepreneurial spirit. My success was built on a “Zero $ corporate budget department” self funding operating model that I initially developed. In contrast to all other IT initiatives, funded either at the corporate or business unit level, my department was funded by developing common IT solutions at the regional level that individual locations were willing to pay for out of the operational expense budgets.Key to the model design were the requirements of all locations and solutions that met the common needs while limiting customization. This allowed us to deliver the needed functionality and support levels at a highly competitive pricing structure. Core to this was driving the lowest possible cost for common solutions but charging a premium at the customer’s discretion where individual locations required a non standard solution. This provided tremendous value while providing the ability for each business unit to have direct influence on the services they were buying from my department. We developed close relationships with the business units and individual locations by delivering a system and service which provided true value and generated a positive ROI, that not only secured Cargill’s facilities throughout Europe but also reduced overtime expenses. This success and relationships laid the foundation for us to be able to roll out and to drive numerous global initiatives, the largest of these was the MAXIMO which greatly enhanced the efficiency of our production facilities.
