HeyUGuys was a bit of a dream projector. I started it alongside a friend of mine Jon Lyus when working for a large corporate Investment Management company. We had the idea to begin HeyUGuys in 2008 thinking it would be a 'blog', a place for us to write our movie thoughts down and didn't quite realise where it would take us.Fast forward 12 years and HeyUGuys is now one of the leading movie voices in the UK. It can be seen on London Underground tube and bus posters (or even on busses sometimes) when we give a movie the full 5 stars in our movie reviews and is a trusted brand by the major Hollywood Studios. We've been to over 1000 red carpet invents and have over 7000 videos with over 100m views and over 100k subscribers on our YouTube channel.The website is still going strong and is our shop front for all our content. My day to day role as Editor involved looking after all the content that goes up on HeyUGuys.com, liaising with all the PRs for new content, interview, reviews and screenings, editing all video content that I receive from my team of interviewers and am constantly plugged into our YouTube analytics working out how we can improve engagement and promotion from external sources as well as on our own platforms.From a social perspective, my role also includes managing the social content that my team places across all major social platforms, studying analytics and making sure strategies are in place to increase engagement and interaction with each post. Defining and evolving the HeyUGuys business and content strategy has led to increased numbers across all social platforms, specifically YouTube which has been our main focus over the past 3-4 years to increase viewers, subscribers and revenue from the channel.

Following on from my freelance work with RG Jones and Effect Event, I have been asked to create quite a number of bespoke video packages and highlight reels for the likes of charity Banana Moon, Staedtler, St. William, FontEVA (part of SalesForce). Highlight reels can be found below. Recently to assist business who are struggling to meet because of COVID-19, I have been involved in running virtual conferences for companies like BCAM where we provided a technical solution for their first ever fully virtual conference. The event ran completely on Zoom whilst I used vMix to push content to Zoom including videos, PowerPoint presentations whilst being sure the right person / content was on screen at the correct moment.

During my time freelancing for RG Jones, I've been lucky enough to work with some amazing clients. The role is very similar to that at Effect Event setting up and operating large audio / video-based content for large clients. Using the likes of ProPresenter, vMix, PowerPoint, Playback Pro and making sure the content is as the client would like and that operations run smoothly. I am also tasked with setting up numerous video cameras for use in larger venues and managing the camera crews to make sure shows are well framed and the best they can be.Some of the clients I have worked with include the Metropolitan Police, the Lawn Tennis Association, Guildhall London, Mansion House and the Royal Academy. More increasingly live streaming is used with many events now being broadcast to varying platforms. After many events I am often also contracted to create highlight reel videos for clients, some of which are linked in the description below.

Since 2016 I have been doing freelance video editing, video operation, camera operation and live stream events for Effect Event. Clients have ranged from small to very large including vision mixing for Craig David at a large corporate event at the NEC in Birmingham and numerous presentation dinners at the prestigious RAC Club.The role consists of setting up control, cabling, setting up broadcast TVs LED Walls and Projectors then operating vision mixers to control shows. Again this can range from PowerPoint presentations to large live streaming seminars. Software used includes PowerPoint, ProPresenter, vMix, OBS and Playback Pro. Vision mixers are mostly Black Magic equipment or Roland. In this role I have also created video highlights for varying clients. Links to some of these can be found in the media section. These were created using Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.

I look after the Shell YouTube channel, uploading incredible content from the Content Engine as well as many other people from around the business.

During my time at LGfL, I had two roles, Website Editor and Technical Support for the main office based in New Malden. On a day to day basis I was responsible for liaising with members of the team to make sure their varying sections of the LGfL website were up to date. The second half of the role was keeping the LGfL IT ticking along providing technical support to those based in the office and the 13 people who were on the road looking after the different schools across London. I was also responsible with liaising with external partners who provided both hardware and software to the charity when issues arose and dealing with upgrades. I decided to leave LGfL when HeyUGuys started to become much more prominent and decided to give that a chance full time.

Following on from Helpdesk / Technical Support, I worked my way up into a role looking after all the AV equipment when the company moved from Bucklersbury House to their new home at One Coleman Street in the City of London. During the building move I was instrumental in the migration to the new building looking after all users' computers even down to which side of the desk the user would like their mouse placed. All of this was created in questionnaires then exported into PDFs so the moving crew knew which desk to move the user to and how they'd like their equipment set up.I was involved from the group up of implementing the new AV kit into the meeting rooms and then once the building became live, I was in charge of making sure that it all ran smoothly as well as making sure that all users of the equipment were happy with how it worked.
