These leaders know that when conscientious, responsibly run companies succeed, so does Colorado, and so do its people. That way of thinking is becoming endangered by more and more who feel that government ought to be the driving force of our economy. That doesn't work.In the 1920's my great grandfather came from Europe as a tailor, built a business, and created future for his family, and for me. His story is a story about free enterprise – not the free enterprise that has been under attack because of the few who have built their wealth at the expense of others – I mean the system by which ambitious entrepreneurs can take risk, apply creativity, and doggedly overcome obstacles to achieve their vision and create opportunities for their communities - virtuous and noble free enterprise.My proudest career moments were born from this spirit… seeing tears on the face of a cable installer who had earned a $900 bonus at Christmas from an entrepreneurial incentive program I'd created; feeling soulful satisfaction (and relief) when several 100-hour work weeks yielded success for my first big customer and kept me in business after I'd 2nd mortgaged my house; introducing a bright young college student to the CEO who would create an internship that helped the CEO's company go public; and connecting the University of Colorado to the President of a $1B enterprise that wanted to offer a learning environment to its future employees.I get jazzed: * Managing a collaborative, high-performing team* Inspiring commitment and investment for a noble mission* Strategically engaging and connecting top business leaders* Hosting the "ProCO360" podcast featuring world-class entrepreneurs who choose Colorado (TM)* Getting things DONE that require extensive and varied business experience and creative business savvy
