Oasis Investment Solutions is an investment boutique specializing in Structured Notes, which I co-Founded with Neil Rubinstein.Here is why I chose to specialize in Structured Notes:I began my journey in the capital market over 18 years. After some time, I was assigned a task - design Strategic Asset Allocation models. I came across fundamental, complex questions: How to estimate expected returns for each asset class? What is the time frame required in order to achieve these returns with high probability? What are the risks, and the potential damage should these risks materialize?Following the 2008 financial crisis, I started searching for additional tools to reduce the uncertainty we experienced during the crisis. One of these instruments was Structured Notes. Two main advantages of Structured Notes attracted me: the ability to define the risk/return profile clearly and precisely, and the ability to provide a relatively high degree of predictability of risk and return. These attributes reduce uncertainty in managing a portfolio.I found myself flooded with notes by banks and brokers but quickly realized that none of them reflected these attributes. The offerings were overly complex, over-priced and far from fitting clients’ portfolios. The conclusion was clear: the only way to consistently emphasize the advantages of Structured Notes is to design them ourselves, driven by our clients’ asset allocation needs. In 2012, Neil Rubinstein and I set up Oasis – an independent investment boutique specializing in Structured Notes. Oasis’s DNA was and remains simple and clear: We are Buy-Side in a domain which is distinctly Sell-Side. The extensive experience I have gained over the years has sharpened my understanding of what works consistently well and what to avoid. This experience helps me manage portfolios in a realistic, down-to-earth approach.
