Dave Tanner has a three-decade leadership track record with dozens of global brands cross the consumer landscape in apparel, footwear, sporting goods, outdoor, events, food, beverages, and home products. He has broad expertise in building purpose-led, high-performing cultures and successfully leading strategic transformations, commercial growth and innovation, digital transformations, brand strategy development, portfolio reconfigurations, M&A, and operational and financial restructurings. Dave has led performance improvement programs in over 30 companies, has completed over 35 M&A transactions, and has served as a director on 11 boards.Dave is currently the CEO of Aspen One—the parent company of Aspen Skiing Company, Aspen Hospitality, and Aspen Ventures. Aspen One develops enhanced strategies and services to support growth and accelerate investment across ski, hospitality, retail, experiences, and clubs to expand the Aspen brand and ethos globally.Immediately prior to Aspen One, Dave was a Senior Advisor with the Boston Consulting Group and Kohlberg & Company, and an Executive Fellow teaching at Harvard Business School. Previously, he was the CEO of Boardriders, Inc. Boardriders was a leading designer and omni-channel retailer of outdoor sports branded apparel, footwear, and accessories under eight global brands sold in 110 countries with retail sales of $3B annually. Dave systematically led the Boardriders platform through a six-year transformation that achieved 22 consecutive quarters of earnings growth.Prior to Boardriders, Dave spent seven years at Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. where he built and led their portfolio operations team. While at Oaktree, he conducted due diligence on 40 assets, and led deep performance improvement work that resulted in >$450M of EBITDA improvement in 14 companies such as AdvancePierre Foods, Diamond Foods, Rural / Metro, Hanley Wood, Dayco, and Alliance Healthcare Services. From 2006-2010, Dave held a number of senior roles at Fortune Brands, Inc. (pre-breakup). Among these, he was a SVP charged with driving the transformation of Fortune’s largest portfolio company, now Beam Suntory (spirits and wine). Previously, Dave led M&A activities across Fortune's portfolio and led their corporate strategy efforts in advance of the company’s breakup.At McKinsey & Company (2001-2005), he was a member of the Strategy and Corporate Finance practices.Earlier in his career, Dave served as a Major and Senior Pilot in the United States Air Force, including service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
