I am a scientist with a growing skillset and interest in software development and computer vision. A natural problem solver, I have always been interested in exploring and engaging with areas that can potentially benefit from creative thinking. My formal education is in genetics and includes a fair amount of data science experience. Early during my PhD, I started working on computer vision projects to support my thesis research. Specifically, automated image analysis to generate large numbers of measurements and biometric identification. Since completing my thesis this has become my primary area of work.Recently I have had the privilege of leading a programme to advance several areas of computer vision work for aquaculture. This work has benefited greatly from recent advances in machine learning and the expertise of a multi-disciplinary team. This has been a great learning experience - particularly for gaining experience in project leadership.For the next stages of my career, I am looking to gain more experience in software development and am interested in contributing to applications with positive real-world impacts.
