David worked as a pianist and saxophonist at the Australian Army Band Sydney. He has represented the band at high profile events across Australia and internationally at Villers Bretonneux (France), Beer Sheva (Israel), and has performed for deployed Australian and international forces in the Middle East.David was employed at Australian Groundwater Technologies (AGT) as a Graduate Hydro-geologist/Geo-scientist from 2014 to 2015. This has allowed him to work on several diverse and challenging projects such as an early stage feasibility study into a potential Aquifer Storage Recovery (ASR) scheme at the Flemington Racecourse. This required gathering, collating and interpreting geological knowledge of the area, in order to ascertain the viability of exploration drilling on site. David worked as the site hydro-geologist in a multi-disciplinary team undertaking extraction and injection trials at the mineral sands project at Balranald (Iluka). This project involved both step break and long extraction and injection trials. Outcomes of this work will help Iluka in the de-watering of future mine at Balranald.As an honours student David worked on a salt diapir weld of the Flinders Ranges between the Enorama and Oraparinna Salt Diapirs. This work was composed of detailed field mapping of the weld structure combined with interpretation of satellite imagery. Findings of this work led to the development of a differential loading model of diapir development, which builds on the pre-existing consensus which favours faulting in the area.Other professional interests and expertise include gained through projects throughout his career include; structural geology, sedimentary geology, geochronology, groundwater, ASR and geophysics.
