The person(s) in a MUEV would drive to an entry location and get on the track that would automatically take them to the closest exit and they would drive to their final destination. While in transit they could be charging and have access to communications. Electric cars would be the size of golf carts or Smart vehicles and have standard interlocks and standard interfaces.While on the track, the vehicles would be using centralized “mass” electricity thereby using more efficient clean power and because they are charging on the track and possibly in their parking stalls, it may be possible to use smaller batteries thereby being more energy efficient and less costly.This would attract those that currently do not ride buses or trains because those modes of transportation do not get them to their final destination or fit their timing of travel. Partners (possible)IBM Smarter Planet, Google, Automotive Companies, Automated Material Handling companies, Electric companies, Road/ Bridge Construction Companies, Metropolitan transit organizations, Communication Companies, Railroad companies, DOT’s. , Universities, other personal transit organizations.Tracks could be built along existing roads, old railroad right of ways, and have entry exit stations at major crossroads. Tracks could be mono supports to be more accommodating to existing infrastructure and similar to roadways. The track needs to be prefab and easy to build and inexpensive to fabricate. The design standard for the track would allow construction companies to bid on construction, very similar to roads.Fitting the track into existing right of ways as much as possible will reduce the cost to implement and expand.If cities were to eventually limit vehicle traffic to MUEV they would triple existing parking capacity and significantly reduce pollution.
