Reporting to the CEO and a member of the Senior Management Team, led a large-scale global brand reinvention project to redesign all aspects of the Hertz Rent-a-car brand around a common set of values. Drove work across 9 work streams: Customer experience and recognition, People (from uniforms to culture), Processes, Sustainability, Facilities, Fleet, Pricing, New Mobility Solutions and Value Proposition.● Completed facilities renovations touching 80% of customers improving service time and customer satisfaction. ● Launched dream cars program (renting Porsche, Ferrari and other luxury brands) ● Rolled out video kiosks for customer rentals. ● Introduced rapid response to social media: now < 2-hours globally and bench-marked as world-class.During this period was also responsible for Hertz’ loyalty programs globally and re-launched this, introducing new tiers structure, value proposition and all the supporting IT infrastructure. This drove double digit growth in loyalty membership, a big leap in incremental revenue and significant improvements in customer retention.

CIO for the Rent-a-Car Division and responsible for all global systems including hertz.com. Led a team of 200+ globally with in-house and outsourced/offshore development teams. Planned, built and implemented new and transformational systems across the whole business, with strong internal reputation for business focus, relationship building and delivery. Successes have included:● On Hertz.com: launched two full site redesigns, drove increased revenue, introduced prepaid product, and expanded platform to support 16 language options, and all points of sale worldwide.● Launched car sharing service (now Hertz 24/7), including a 2009 TV documentary on the launch with Jack Welch. ● Development and launch of Hertz Equipment and car sales websites and “Gold Choice” service at US airports.● Implemented new pricing and rates system, yield management system, sales force automation system (Siebel) and replaced counter (rental management) systems globally.● Introduction of kiosks (including video conference kiosks) for customer check out & return.● Acquisition and integration of Advantage rent-a-car and Donlen (leasing).

CIO for Hertz’s EMEA division, reporting to the President, and a member of the Executive Team. Directly managed ~100 staff, and worked directly with key customers such as Ryanair, Air France and Opodo. Led through the sale of Hertz to private equity buyers and subsequent IPO.

CIO for Hertz Lease Europe (HLE): one of the largest companies operating in the vehicle leasing market across EMEA, with $1bn revenue. Reporting to the CEO, managing a team of 60 in 9 countries, responsible for implementing a new enterprise-wide leasing system based on Oracle. Led through the sale of HLE to Societe Generale in 2002.

Partial ownership of this start-up company. Conducted investor presentations, built architecture, undertook supplier/partner negotiations, customer presentations and sales. Unable to secure second round funding, but left rich in experience, and with a sharpened sense of entrepreneurship and commercial acumen.

Reporting to the Logistics and Systems Director (a C-level executive); responsible for delivering step change program in Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Distribution and Operations Finance including designing and implementing Europe-wide Supply Chain Planning processes. Successes included: order management system saving >$1.5m annually; production planning system; system for control of pallets (saving $700k in the first year). Led through the acquisition by Coca-Cola Enterprises
