While assisting in developing JSON API's in support of our Ember.js client applications, I single-handedly developed the infrastructure for BeQuick's Connect platform, allowing the capability of rapidly releasing features, creating new environments, and monitoring production environments while using Puppet, Ember-CLI, Ruby, Rails, Splunk, and Amazon's AWS suite of products. Here, I experienced being a technical lead but from the point of view of having to create a fairly sophisticated infrastructure with unique networking requirements while having very little assistance from others.

As a technical lead on Lytro's Web team, I maintained the web application, built new features, worked on the infrastructure, built API's for the in-house mobile teams to use, and mentored junior developers in Ruby, Rails, Javascript, CSS and web standards. I spent a great amount of time refactoring older code, but learned what it was like to lead a project toward building new features again.

At Wildfire Interactive, I worked on various web applications and services to support our business goals, in a SCRUM based development environment, using Ruby on Rails. I was a member of the Security Monitoring and Containment Team. I handled Malware analysis duties, training, and acted as a level 2 responder. I spent a good amount of time writing Ruby scripts to discover systems inside Bank of America's network that were infected with viruses. This is when I really fell in love with Ruby.

I served as a Surface Warfare Officer with Nuclear training aboard an amphibious transport docking ship and a nuclear powered aircraft carrier. During this time, I drove a 30,000 ton warship, operated the S5W and A4W nuclear plants and led divisions of between 5 and 40 military personnel.
