After Alchemy I really wanted to take time off from full-time work and only take remote freelance contracts to subsidize my living costs and allow a lot of personal time for my own passion projects. I worked with 2 companies briefly, HiredHippo.com, developing their app's front-end and Apollo Cannabis Research Clinics, who wanted a website revamp and other graphic design tasks completed.Highlights• Working with the HiredHippo team was a great learning experience with working within a small bootstrapped startup• While working with HiredHippo I got to take my Angular knowledge to the next levelApollo Cannabis Research Clinics was under Mettrum who then was acquired by Canopy Growth, so I really got to see the ins and outs of the medical cannabis industry and the future of diagnosis via online. I was really looking forward to trying to incorporate Skype's Beta chat payment system into their new site. Unfortunately legalization was in the grey sill and so they wanted to hold off on any SAAS ideas until laws were officially passed.• I finally got around to my side passion project of building custom, artistic, arcade machines which I dubbed Artcades (summer 2018)• Artcades.com is basically a conversion of this site, the power of recycling Angular components 😊 (coming when I get to it, will delete this then)

I was hired to do a complete UX/UI redesign of their already built online management systemcalled Ontrack, which at the time was already in heavy use within Tim Horton's and Pet Valu. While doing the redesign I was also tasked to designing the 2.0 version from scratch. The current version was showing its age and needed to be updated. The programming team decided on Angular as the new framework to be used and off we went. OnTrack is a MASSIVE app that included such things as a full Adaptive Learning Management System (for teaching EVERY employee), KPI/Benchmark trackers, Logs and Routines tracking, Event Calendar, a Facebook style news feed per restaurant, a comprehensive 'Ask Us' knowledge forum and many other useful integrated apps. I also had to design or redesign outdated looking content. The new designed version of the app became such a success that when RBI purchased Tim Horton's they signed on with OnTrack for all their internal needs. There isn't much of a higher plateau as far as the experience and confidence gained from being such a vital role in these huge projects. HIGHLIGHTS● Redesigned and developed OnTrack from top to bottom, which has apps that trackseverything imaginable that goes on within a major franchise.● Designed and developed the front-end telltimhortons.com (online customer survey)● Designed and developed the front-end for a in restaurant survey tablet for Tim Horton's● Designed and developed the front-end of the Tim Hortons Children's Foundation Camporientation websites (both campers and staff)● Resigned Tim Horton's 'Build Charts' (visual guides for sandwich/drink creations)● Designed tons of material for all clients (learning info, web panels, contest stuff, etc.)● Designed and developed the front-end of a test pilot digital break-room app calledOpsPulse, in order to improve performance and efficiency at each restaurant location (lastI heard it was a success)● Designed the company's convention booths and all our handouts

This was the first company I started working for after doing mostly freelance work out of schooland to this day the owner is a dear friend. My introduction and transition from graphic design toweb design started when I started working with I One Media. Learned the face-to-face value when dealing with entrepreneurs and also the challenges. This was the perfect first job in the field for me.HIGHLIGHTS● Handled design needs for clients● Majority of projects were small business websites, splash pages or promo materials● Before Javascript I was big into Flash and loved building sites with it. My intro intoprogramming● Began to realize the future power of social media and apps● Invested a lot of time and effort in learning about SEO"● Fell into my design style and kept up to date with design trends.Still do!
