As the Empennage Engineer for my Design/Build/Fly club, I design and optimize the tail section, focusing on the stabilizers, rudder, and elevator. I collaborate closely with the fuselage, wing, landing gear, and avionics teams to ensure seamless integration across the entire aircraft. This involves aligning the empennage design with the aircraft’s overall aerodynamics, weight distribution, and flight control systems, ensuring stability, control, and performance. My work includes CAD modeling, aerodynamic analysis, and optimizing for structural integrity and weight.

As a member of the Hispanic Engineers and Scientists club, I’m deeply committed to fostering a sense of community and promoting exploration in STEM. I actively engage in outreach initiatives that encourage young students to pursue careers in engineering and science, especially within underrepresented communities. Through collaboration with fellow members, I help organize events and workshops that provide mentorship, networking, and hands-on learning experiences. For me, the club is not just about professional development, but about building a supportive environment where we can explore new ideas, share knowledge, and inspire future generations of STEM innovators.

During my time at Waba Grill, I honed my communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. In addition to handling daily operations and ensuring high-quality service, I was responsible for training new employees, teaching them essential tasks, maintaining efficiency, and promoting a positive workplace culture.This role required attention to detail, time management, and process optimization, much like the skills I apply in engineering. Whether managing multiple tasks at once or improving operational workflows, my experience at Waba Grill directly translates to the engineering field, where efficiency and precision are vital for success.
