After three years, three rewrites and some touring, made 'not so easy' by the pandemic, I decided to film my one-man performance piece and put it on a pay-per-view platform. The website for ' What Could Go Wrong -The Play ' is easy to find via search engines and explains the concept of the show and has a link to view (from 1 June). The material covers the first half of my unusual life and is adult material for mature audiences. For those of you who may know me from my 30 years as an executive in the cruise industry, this 'pre-cruise' portion of my experiences will come as a shock! I grew up dirt poor and did a lot of controversial things to get to where I am today. This video spills the beans and contains coarse language, a history of the beginnings of the gay liberation movement, lots of funny stories and a few saddening and brutal. As the tagline of the show states: "you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll demand a refund!" To create my 'act three' on the same platform I began my life in, show business, and at the ripe elder age of 72, requires guts and an honesty rarely seen on the screen. I've always tried to empower my friends and colleagues by supporting their efforts and dreams. I hope that you will now do the same for me and support my performance piece by watching my film. Some of you will not like the material, will even be shocked by it, but please watch it and realize that in these times, free speech and freedom expression are threatened. **Note show name change to "What Could Go Wrong?" in 2022** A 90-minute performance piece and one-man-show, written by David Vass, based on diaries kept since 1960. An adult entertainment, performed by me. It is an outrageous and cringe-worthy evening that goes to all the places one is told 'not to go'. As a raconteur with an eccentric life revolving around being at the right places at the right times, the marketing tag is 'You'll Laugh, You'll Cry, You'll Demand a Refund!" Can be divided into five 15-minute segments, each on a specific topic allowing it to be a stand-alone experience or can be presented in its 80 minute entirety. Recapping actual personal experiences, the topics include lying, stealing, sex, show business personalities, the Gay Liberation Movement, prison time for refusing the draft, (date rape?) and many other hot and controversial topics. Only appropriate for ship entertainment venues that offer adult material for those 18 years +. The segments can be cobbled together in various time configurations. There is a website, a teaser video reel, collateral materials and minimal requirements for staging and traveling. This show was 'taking off' in live venues across the USA and the UK when the pandemic hit. I have rewritten it to be adult cruise ship, cabaret and small theatre friendly, and it can be shown in segments on YouTube. What you can't ask but I can tell: I am 72 years old, attractive for my age, healthy, an excellent storyteller / actor, and a diarist / writer for 50 years. This is the real thing; for venues, land and floating that book their own talent, or agents who book acts to present as above, there is no one else doing this kind of material or using this concept.
