By providing access to capital, my goal is to create jobs, grow the tax base and create wealth for employees and owners alike. I manage five loan programs; one, a fund that seeks to lend within Allentown’s large Enterprise Zone, another that seeks to lend to minority business owners (across Lehigh and Northampton Counties) and a three City wide programs that provides loans to a broad scope of City businesses. Coupled with this work is business outreach/assistance to small businesses including AEDC incubator tenants and assistance with commercial real estate development of the 1.6 million sq. ft. of space that AEDC owns, leases or manages. AEDC is a private, non-profit corporation dedicated to promoting smart growth throughout the City of Allentown. -

I often work a shift on weekends and some nights…typically handling 4-6 Advanced Life Support calls a shift. In January 2014, I transitioned up to the new NRP (National Registry Paramedic) status. I have re-certified my National Registry 5X and PA State license 2X. BTVFC and Emmaus provide Advanced Life Support medical services as primary EMS in large service areas and also through cooperative 'mutual aid' agreements with agencies in surrounding communities. We carry medications to treat conditions such as diabetes, COPD, asthma, heart attacks, cardiac arrest, heart conditions, drug overdoses, pain and many other acute medical and/or trauma issues. We are equipped to handle broken bones, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, breathing problems, and other life threatening injuries and illnesses.Due to a health condition, I retired from Paramedicine and let my certifications expire at the end of 2023.

Brattleboro, Vt Jan 2004 - Dec 2007Recruited to stabilize and grow this $2.5 million, 60 employee/volunteer non-profit organization in financial and operational distress. Facing stagnant revenues and growing expenses added services to grow call volume from 2,500 to over 4,000calls/year. Acquired adjacent business, expanding service from 9 to 14 communities. Concluded Katrina response federal contract. Directly negotiated Town subsidy rates, moved billing/collections in-house and changed ambulance acquisition from purchase to lease-to-own model. Imposed budgets, QI/QC, and accounting controls using automated patient reporting and insurance billing systems. Agency became profitable after two years despite insurance reimbursement cuts. Re-wrote HR policy, employee manual and wrote/negotiated Labor Agreement. Won grants worth over $500,000. Once restructured, we determined that the Agency could not support an Executive Director; I resigned to pursue my paramedic certification/license and a position with the VtSBDC.
