About David Vencis

The short story...I stepped into a more physically creative field of work and away from an incredibly volatile period in tech, went back to trade school, became a carpenter, and rejuvenated my sense of purpose during the time away. I found that some modern-thinking residential builders are thinking more like high-growth tech companies (and winning), but many are not. That's when I decided to blend my past success with my new industry and became an Operations and Project Manager for an up-and-coming builder.The long(er) story...In 2022, I opted to take a sabbatical and pursue more hands-on, creative work which resulted in attending the oldest trade school in the US to learn Preservation Carpentry. After that, I worked for a highly-skilled traditional carpentry company that restored and preserved multiple National Parks and historically significant buildings in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. This brought me back to my roots and formative years having grown up in a family of trades members and firefighters.Previously, I was a successful Talent Acquisition leader that built the programs that scaled Drizly's (acquired by Uber) employee base by nearly 4x in 2.5 years and laid the foundation for MIRROR (acquired by lululemon) and Babylist's Talent Acquisition strategy, both increasing diversity in the team, and hiring VP and C-suite leadership.It occurred to me that I can blend my previous strengths with business-agility, project management, and operations with my newer experience in the building trades and help growth-stage residential construction companies scale efficiently and intentionally.... and that's my current journey.
