I enjoy leading and transforming highly technical cloud-based businesses that are going through periods of significant growth and transitions. Specifically, I work in general management roles where I have the opportunity to focus end-to-end on business and engineering, including: developing the business strategy, managing the engineering team to deliver features, operating the business (technical operations & P&L), closely engaging with customers and partners, and working closely with Sales and Marketing to grow for the business. While I care about metrics to help drive a business, I also care deeply about each person on my team, and growing and developing them to reach their potential.

A summary of these businesses is below. During this role, I also lead the Amazon EC2 Business Intelligence team for roughly 3 years. The Spot Instances service (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/spot-instances/) is responsible for helping customers scale out their workloads by bidding on Amazon EC2's unused capacity and reducing their costs by as much as 92%. The focus of this business is transforming the innovation cycle for companies requiring large amounts of analysis/computing by building the next generation tools, features, and services that will help customers and partners building on our service consume as much capacity as possible based upon their constraints (e.g. cost, time, resources, etc). The Reserved Instance (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/reserved-instances/) and Reserved Instance Marketplace (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/reserved-instances/marketplace/) services enable customers to manage their cost and usage with pricing models, tools, and features. The Reserved Instance service allows customers to lower their hourly cost and reserve capacity by paying a low upfront fee. The focus of this group is to help customers optimize their spend and manage their capacity for Amazon EC2.
