As the Chief Executive of the North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) I was responsible for one of the largest aerospace clusters in the world representing 240 aerospace member companies (including organisations such as BAE Systems, AIRBUS, Rolls-Royce, Safran-Aircelle, and MBDA) with a combined turnover in excess of £8 Billion and employing 26,000 highly skilled people in the North West of England.

I was responsible for the operations of the largest Regional Trade Association in the UK and the delivery of over £20 Million of business support programmes in areas such as Innovation, Skills and Supply Chain Development. I was promoted from Design Engineer to Technical Specialist across the 6 year period I was involved in the design and engineering of both Aero and Industrial gas turbine engines. Specific products I worked on included the General Electric GE90 aero-engine and large industrial gas turbine engines such as the GT24/26 and the General Electric Frame engines. I was responsible for the aerodynamic design of compressors, turbines, combustion systems and exhaust ducts using computational fluid dynamics.

The Rolls Royce UTC is a strategic partnership between Loughborough University and Rolls-Royce for advanced technology development covering a range of combustion system and gas turbine internal aerodynamic research. I completed an engineering apprenticeship gaining hands on experience of fitting, machining and assembly in addition to placements in engineering offices including stress, estimating and cost reduction. I gained two years factory floor experience in production departments including aircraft servicing and wing manufacture for large civil (AIRBUS A320) and executive aircraft (BAe 125).
