I was fortunate to serve as the C-Suite executive, principally as the CFO, also as the CEO, for several well-established and respected health care services and pharmaceutical companies - My successes and accomplishments at those companies were largely a tribute to the great teams and support that were the hallmark of these great companies - I learned much about people, leadership, business and finance from the mentors who tutored me in my responsibilities - Hopefully I contributed equally to their requirements of me, while sponsoring the growth and development of the individuals who teamed with me to do our best on behalf of our employer - What I learned most in these roles is that knowing what to do, or how to do it, is always helpful, of course, however, not as helpful as being a contributing part of the team and the organization that believes in each other and works together to support the roles we each have in growing the mission of the company - My personal and professional thanks to all who helped me to do my best with and for them

I cut my teeth as a CPA - If you know that profession, you know it's all about accountability, integrity and discipline, with a few hours of work at its heart - As a CPA, you learn many technical competencies, very helpful to a finance career, you also learn about many different businesses and how finance is the language of business - More importantly, you learn about yourself in service to others, you learn how to listen and learn from others, you learn the importance of others in their expectations and requirements of you and you develop the attributes and skills that enable you to earn the trust of others - It's a finance and technical profession, built on personal relationships and communications, like all else in business and life, a thankful, peopled experience
