David is Managing Director of the Nagel Family Office. David runs the family office, provides vision, direction, and leadership to the team and external advisors while overseeing all family office services. These include managing the family’s diversified holdings including their direct investments, internally managed portfolio, and public and private external managers. Additionally, David manages the professionalized performance reporting, internal controls, and due diligence processes. David also serves as a “gatekeeper” and the primary interface with the principals to allow them to focus their time and energy on endeavors that are most meaningful to them.

As the CFO, I oversee finance operations, to include accounting, systems and tax analysis, and reporting, for a family office managing real estate, private companies, and listed securities investments. Beyond managing portfolios, maintaining cash flow, and developing acquisition and syndicated investment opportunities, I also administer software systems to support trading, partnership accounting, and traditional business activities including general ledger maintenance and accounts payable and receivable. Highlights of my contributions include:• Sourcing more than 18 real estate projects, managing relationships with multiple vendors while analyzing potential ROI for five commercial and 13 residential projects.• Applying sound wealth transfer strategy while structuring insurance and estate planning solutions, including leveraging GRATS, CRATS, trusts, and generation gifting approaches.• Meeting objectives for liquidity and safety through close monitoring of private bank bond and equity portfolios.• Engaging as a key member of the family’s private foundation, contributing to decision making and structure design to promote positive change

Providing corporate-level controllership, I established and enforced accounting policies, procedures, and controls; engaged with senior management while ensuring the alignment of financial practices with larger organization objectives; and handled preparation of all required SEC reporting. Highlights of my contributions include:• Executing a $38M equity investment agreement with General Electric, adeptly navigating challenging market conditions to secure the deal.

Directing accounting operations, I managed a 15-person New York and India-based staff within this private equity-backed, full-service real estate finance BPO.Highlights of my contributions include:• Spearheading the reorganization of the accounting department structure, reorganizing staff, optimizing processes, and enhancing systems to elevate data accuracy and achieve improved operational efficiencies.

Maintained accountability for finance operations within this privately held modular building company, I directed the preparation of annual budgets and interim forecasts as well as monthly asset-based lending, collateral, and covenant reports. Further, I prepared reports for submission to internal leadership as well as banks and investors.Highlights of my contributions include:• Revamping internal controls and redesigning accounting infrastructures to meet changing business needs following a tremendous 317% annual sales volume growth.• Slashing month-end close by more than half, from 32 to 12 days, by significantly improving operational efficiencies.
