Infantry Training Centre Catterick

Responsible for the Hard Facilities Management (HFM) at the largest training establishment in the British Army, with over 180 assets and an established strength of 3500 personnel.I use knowledge and a common sense, no nonsense approach to ensure the needs of the organisation are met. Effectively managing the fault reporting mechanism to ensure that faults are reported correctly and monitored through to resolution. I moderate and influence to ensure that infrastructure is enhanced to improve the operational effectiveness of the sites and deliver world class training to students and permanent staff.Described as being fundamental to the operational effectiveness of the Training Centre, I work hard to maintain a strong working relationship with Defence Infrastructure and all industry partners in order to maximise opportunities and manage expectations at all levels.

Using strong guidance and leadership, I was responsible for the coordination and movement of all equipment and personnel (including families) from Central Europe too mainland England.At the epicentre of planning and executing the move, I was required to prioritise the movement of vehicles, equipment, personnel and their families, whilst also ensuring that disruption to operational outputs was minimised. This task was achieved with utter professionalism and determination to ensure success. All deadlines were met with significant hard work and the ability to understand the constraints and opportunities. The unit move was achieved whilst also ensuring that equipment maintenance and staff professional education programmes continued to be delivered.

This role required me to optimise and reinvigorate the efficiency and capability of 3 prime business outputs: Contract Delivery, Local Resource Support and Labour Support.Managing a team of 20 staff, I provided global contract management and commercial purchasing support to deployed organisations. During which, my analysis and generation of KPI's resulted in the generation of 8 bespoke contracted solutions. This needed clear thinking, an ability to understand the requirement and the flexibility to manage change requirements efficiently.My ability to communicate effectively at all levels was key to success. I provided a wider understanding of departmental responsibilities by delivering a series of capability presentations which promoted the unit and explained roles and responsibilities. This ensured that the organisation where able to optimise and refine deployments resulting increased mobility and shorter lead times for equipment availibility.

During this time I deployed to multiple operational theatres where I improved the existing processes for equipment support, delivering a fresh approach which significantly enhanced the level of service and ensured that Equipment Capabilities remained above the required level. This approach meant that I was able to identify a critical shortfall in a vital, military platform that would have impacted negatively on operations. Engaging at the strategic level in UK ensured an innovative solution that involved the reclamation of spares from platforms held in the UK.

Delivering inventory audit and assurance inspections to multiple sites across Europe. Monitoring and scrutinising all provision levels to minimise financial loses and maximise inventory availability across all sites, requiring accuracy as standard. Providing statistical data to Headquarters relating to operational stock holdings and provision data through information management interrogation.Providing corporate management supply chain advice based on current doctrine and policy to enable effective decisions and planning expectations, which were based on accurate and reliable information. Planned and facilitated the launch of a new Logistic Information System Network across 19 storage sites, including the schedule of the training calendar to all staff. This resulted in the successful transfer of data migration with minimal loss in productivity.

An Operations Supervisor role that required a pragmatic and sensible approach to a large dispersed unit. With an unwavering commitment to the task, I was able to draw from my operational experience to complete a number of concurrent challenges. I am able to prioritise and plan quickly by using logical and methodical decisions to deliver results. Naturally inquisitive, I enjoy working in a high tempo environment and will always add value to any situation. I am a person that always upholds the highest personal and professional standards, and always lead by example.

In my primary role as a Logistic Specialist within the British Army I have gained significant experience across the full spectrum of Supply Chain activities, which enables me to offer sound technical advice to others. Either as an Inventory Manager or Warehouse Manager, I have always strived to provide the very best service and give confidence to the customer, by maintaining the highest standards. From constructing new accounts to creating bespoke storage environments and supply training programs, I take personal pride in exceeding expectations and delivering results. Career opportunities have allowed me to work within Aviation, Medical (including Blood products), Engineering and Automotive support fields. This has given me a unique opportunity to develop my managerial experience in all areas of Inventory and Warehouse management and also develop staff around me.
