I currently work as International Capability L&D Lead within Scottish Government - Global Affairs and Policy Unit within the Directorate of External Affairs - running their International School, associated quarterly newsletter, International Talent Programme, and also spearheading the introduction of overseas shadowing and secondment opportunities.Before taking up my current role in September 2022, I worked in the Dept. for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), first as an Office Manager, establishing a new Cities and Local Growth team in Scotland, tasked with delivering various UK Government funds (Levelling Up (LUF) and UK Shared Prosperity (UKSPF) funds etc). 9-months in, I secured a secondment as a PA/Diary Manager for the Director and Leadership Team of the Homes for Ukraine Team, where I spent 7 months standing the directorate and director's private office function up at pace, moulding the wider culture, and ensuring the leadership team had all the resources needed to deliver the novel policy necessary for the pursuance of beneficiaries' societal integration over the 3+ years of the programme.Latest Studies: Awarded Distinction for his Master of Laws dissertation, David investigates how social-ecological approaches to the conceptualisation and operationalisation of ‘nature-based solutions’ can drive contribution to the development of regenerative city-region governance.The research conveys the topicality and timeliness of the endeavour, especially in wide-ranging debates relating to urban, climate change, and biodiversity governance, pointing towards the development of innovative approaches to environmental management, based on holistic systems thinking, multi-scalar and cross-sectoral integration, and questions of social, environmental, and spatial justice. The dissertation contributes by bringing together insights from legal geography, understood as an approach to the study of interactions between law and space, the ecosystem approach as elaborated under international biodiversity law and regarded through a critical, biopolitical lens, and associated emerging discourses around urban environmental management.
