I help Product-Makers become more successful, locally and globally – leading, motivating and inspiring business leaders, teams and students on their journey to success. I use the expression Product-Making, as "manu-facturing", is Latin for make-by-hand, which is counter to everything I have learnt and practiced as an industrial engineer and management consultant, focussed on improving operational efficiency.My focus is digital transformation and innovative business models that digitally connect all parts of the end-to-end value chain – to this end, I undertook a PhD to study the very best applications of digital tools for product-making to digitally orchestrate the design, make and sale of tangible products. I am passionate about how Australia can best leverage our education and innovativeness with economies of scale provided by global factories and sell into global markets – by digitally orchestrating.Brought up in a small home-based service business, I understand intimately the need for responsiveness to customer needs, innovation to solve problems and communication of expectations. With six university degrees, I have lectured at most universities in Melbourne, so I understand the value and importance of education to provide opportunity and enable understanding from multiple perspectives. When I walk into an industrial product-making business, I can quickly identify opportunity for improvement, from my professional experience that has spanned shopfloor supervisory at Ford, line management at SPCArmona and HJHeinz and strategy consulting at Booz&Co and Accenture, across all industries of product-makers: food & beverage, automotive, packaging, electronics, chemicals, industrial I am most motivated by shaping new business models and drawing the connections of information flow into operations from across different areas in a product-making business – hence, my work in Integrated Business Planning – Oliver Wight business process and SAP IBP software. As a manager, I have led teams up to 30 people, project managed residential and commercial building projects, created and run a national university led Forum on technology and digital transformation IT projects. Furthermore, I have initiated and led development of global technology and IP at QAD and SAP.
