Provide management, supervision and legal support for the Office of Legal Services, which provides extensive legal services to the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services, including: defending the Agency in state and federal court, drafting legislation and rules, collections activities, bankruptcies, claimant appeals, employer appeals, liens, respond to subpoenas, respond to FOIA requests, providing counsel regarding compliance with state and federal laws related to unemployment insurance, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, (WIOA), Transitional Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), grants and procurement, and advising the Director, Deputy Directors and staff as needed. Duties included providing representation of the Division in State and Federal courts, providing legal opinions to the Director and executive staff, serving on Personnel Committee and providing legal advice to the Committee, reviewing rules and policies, monitoring state and federal court opinions that impact the Division, coordinating and monitoring litigation with in-house attorneys, and Attorney General’s office, contract negotiations, drafting and monitoring legislation, providing testimony before legislative committees, coordinating FOIA responses on behalf of the Department, etc.
