David is a consulting engineer with over 45 years’ experience in a variety of senior roles in the alumina, mineral processing, mining and industrial chemicals industries. Since retiring from Rio Tinto David has provided consultancy services to a wide range of mineral processing operations including Alumina, Lithium, Nickel, Zinc and Lead. Most recent assignments include Graphite mining and processing and a Rare Earth mineral process review.David has a passion for excellence in operational performance, achieving results by aligning best practice technology with highly capable operations and technical teams. David has deep industry leadership experience, having undertaken roles ranging from front line leadership to executive management in both operational and technology spheres. This experience enables him to quickly understand core process and team issues, that will help deliver tailored solutions to resolve operational inefficiency and enhanced workforce capability.David has lead numerous incident investigation including critical process events, environmental and safety incidents. His wide experience can expedite investigations where multi-disciplinary approach is required to identify and resolve root cause Structured analysis of operational processes to identify performance constraints and help build improvement pathways has been effectively applied by David at several sites over recent years with significant improvement outcomes delivered. With a particular focus on building team capability, David has worked closely with operational leaders, professional engineers and frontline employees to build technical competence and practical application of this knowledge. This enables David to provide organisations with resilient solutions to technical problems.David also has experience in concept studies, evaluation and business assessment for major projects, successfully delivering the business development elements of the Gove Expansion Project and Trans-Territory Pipeline Project. This included extensive representational activity with all levels of Australian Government, indigenous land owners and international partners.David’s qualifications include: BE in Chemical Engineering, a Graduate Diploma in Business Management.
