About David Zimmerman
I have always had a passion for our nation’s Air Force, competitive sports, accounting, and event planning. Growing up I always looked forward to the annual air shows that highlighted our nation’s superior Air Force. This led me to a 24-year career as an Air Force Officer skilled in contract negotiation, management and policy. After retiring from active duty service, I decided to explore my passion of sport by attending the DeVos Sport Business Management Program. This allowed me to explore the Power of Sport by serving as a Graduate Assistant to the Director, Dr Richard Lapchick. In this role, I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES) where we published a variety of studies, including annual studies of student-athlete graduation rates and racial attitudes in sports, as well as the internationally recognized Racial and Gender Report Card, an assessment of hiring practices in coaching and sport management in professional and college sport. Post-graduation, I continued to explore my passion for sport and event planning as a servant leader within the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games organizing committee with the mission of driving greater inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities. I am now part of the Freeman Company, the largest event services organization, serving as a Regional Accounting Manager with a goal of obtaining my CMA and becoming a senior executive.
Listed skills include Command, Force Protection, Military Logistics, Security Clearance, and 23 others.
