As a Senior Mining Engineer/Mine Captain RBS my major functions are:-Key Performance Areas: SAFETY OF MEN AND MACHINERY– overseeing the safety of men and machinery and that employees both for Mopani and Contractors are well acquainted with Hazard identification and risk management through trainings and in-house sensitizations. EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY - to liaise with mobile engineering on fleet maintenance and other logistics to reduce on breakdowns and down time. PLANNING AND ORGANIZING OF MATERIALS-overseeing the short term and medium term planning of mining operations and ensuring that there is adequacy of materials at the right time, right place, right quantity and right quality. COST-EFFECTIVE USE OF RESOURCES-overseeing the optimum utilization of equipment, labour and service materials in order to meet the set targets. MOTIVATION OF THE TEAM-overseeing the motivation of employees through trainings, promotions and to provide counseling.  CONTROLLING AND TIME MANAGEMENT-overseeing the operations in the mine and ensuring that they are done within the stipulated time frame.Key Responsibilities: Ensure that development excavations follow Planning, Survey and Geotechnical design Ensure continuous improvement of Best Operating Practices (BOPs) in terms of support work, standard procedures and recommendations for efficient mining operations are implemented Ensure that all Stoping, development and services issues are reported to the Underground Manager Supervise and coordinate subordinate staff in their day-to-day activities with regard to meeting the set targets.

As a stockbroker, my role was to provide professional advise to clients and would be clients on share trading and facilitate the buying and selling of shares on the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE).

As a Student at the main campus, I was a member of University of Zambia Students Union (UNZASU), University of Zambia Mining Students (UNZAMS), Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and Church Of Christ member.

I SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE PROJECT I UNDERTOOK AT KONKOLA COPPER MINES PIC (KCM) WITH CRITICAL RECOMMENDATIONS MADE BY WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH THE MINE TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT AND PRODUCTION OFFICIALS TO LOOK AT SHORT, MEDIUM AND LONG TERM PLANNING WITH REGARD TO MINING OPERATIONS. DURING THIS PERIOD, KEEN INTEREST WAS PUT IN STUDYING OF THE VARIOUS MINING METHODS PRACTICED AT KCM WITH A VIEW OF COMPARING THE CURRENT MINING METHOD I.E. POST PILLAR CUT AND FILL (PPCF) AND IT'S VIABILITY IN RELATION TO OTHER MINING METHODS BELOW 2000 FEET LEVEL.
