Mentoring This role consists of supporting an assigned child/young person to achieve termly targets set around areas such as emotional well-being, academic progress, behaviour and/or relationships with others. This intervention is carried out remotely, via telephone and video calls with carer/parent present for sessions, otherwise in the community, schools, placements or accompany children to appointments and activities. She also has in depth experience of working in the team around the child /young person to identify termly targets to support children/ young people in dealing with complex issues or challenging behaviours to promote the safeguarding welfare of the child/ young person.

Youth Offending Role included conducting comprehensive assessments, to establish children and young people under 18 known to other relevant organisations, such as Children’s Social Care, Education Welfare and Police Services, CAMHS, Housing and Education status also to assess additional needs. This was key in establishing the levels of risk of offending when supervising those who were subject to statutory court orders and those in custody. The main purpose of the role was to Carry out work to prevent re-offending. This included joint decisions making within Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) aimed at both protection of the public, children, young people and families to ensure all safeguarding concerns are shared within the forum and addressed through interventions from the appropriate professionals and organisations. Many of the children and young people were known to Children Services, under Child protection, Child in Need or are Children Looked After by the local authority. Therefore, she is constantly working closely children’s social care. She has working knowledge of liaising and partnerships with Children Social Care, she also completed breach, progress, and court reports.

Serious Youth Violence Case Worker Responsible for the handling of complex caseloads. Working with parents’ vulnerable children, young people under 18 who were in custody or the community with a range of presenting factors such as mental health issues, substance misuse, gang affiliation and those who were involved or affected by in serious natured offending, county lines, child sexual exploitation, grooming and modern slavery. The role consisted of regularly submitting carefully collated information around safeguarding risks and concerns to National Referral Mechanism (NRM) to ensure the correct support and protection where necessary was in place for public protection and safeguarding of children, young people, and their families. The role also included undertaking core comprehensive assessments, monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of individual care plans, liaising with Children’s Social Care, Education Welfare and Police Services, CAMHS, Housing and Education to compile and monitor care plans; as well as support emergency managed moves out of borough.She also was an attendee of the serious youth violence monthly panel which was chaired by Thames Valley and Metropolitan Police.

Substance Misuse Developed and established links with partner agencies to build the substance misuse outreach service for young people aged 11-18. Provided flexible but structured outreach-based support that addressed emotional and practical needs for Tier 2 and Tier 3 clients which provided treatment plans, relapse prevention, risk assessment and care plans, and review. Worked with Health and NHS reporting on Treatment outcome Profiles (TOPS) for national statics. Supported clients move on and ensure that where appropriate clients were signposted on for welfare benefits advice, housing, legal advice, and aftercare support, in line with the young person’s needs and aspirations. She again comprehensively assessed both adult and young people on referral to the service to identify the substance related issues and develop appropriate care and /or treatments plans to meet identified needs. She delivered preventative and therapeutic (CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and brief solution focus) based work with young people, who were deemed vulnerable to developing substance misuse issues / and those considered affected by substance missed. She also acted as lead professional coordinating priority areas of work with, CLA, Children Sexually Exploited, Health, and pregnant teens in line with local and national agendas.

Children’s Homes and Semi-independent unitsShift leader in Ofsted Registered establishments assisting with the development and implementation of systems to monitor and record young person development. Roles included Key working, mentoring, and coaching, young people who have had adverse childhood experiences many of whom came from very fractured up bringing struggling to manage emotional well-being and regulation. Duties including assisting with the preparation and maintenance with-in the home to ensure Health and Safety standards are appropriately met as well as the day to day running of the home for the needs of both the children and young people. Also assisting the team leader in the supervision of the training of students in placement within the Setting.
