Bachelor of Architecture | Auburn University '22 | Rural StudioI recently completed a design-build thesis project with Auburn University's Rural Studio. Me and my three teammates designed and built transient shelter for people experiencing homelessness in rural Perry County, Alabama. We partnered with a local non-profit: C.H.O.I.C.E. Uniontown. This project supports their ongoing housing program. Named C.H.O.I.C.E. House, the duplex features a large front porch - a feature often disregarded in transient shelter. At highest occupancy, our project will be able to support as many as 6 unhoused individuals each month. I am interested in continuing to make decisions that contribute high social impact like C.H.O.I.C.E. House while still being affordable to clients. I have recently moved to Portland, Oregon, and am always trying to learn more about sustainable building practices; especially new uses of wood in our everyday construction details. I want to be involved with community-driven work that is safe for builders, healthier for our environment, and healthy to inhabit.
