I attend a small private school. As a freshman, the football team was needing someone to film their games. My yearbook teacher recommended me to the coach, and when he asked me to help, I was excited about the possibilities. Then, I realized there was no live-streaming for football games or multiple cameras or anything that would be considered a production. All our football film included was a continuous recording of the plays. With my new title as “Head of the Film Team”, I made a goal to improve the way we did our sports filming. I started off with setting up some newly purchased equipment, programming settings, scoreboard options, live-stream encoding settings, and recording settings. However, I quickly ran into a challenge: the job needed more hands. So, I requested and earned a new job position to help improve the cameras' scoreboard scoring and allow more room for me to properly do filming with the addition of live-streaming and live-scoring. Next, I began to work on making the sports filming into a sports production by adding cameras, software, and proper support for the production. I took classes, seminars, jobs, and extra side gigs to help further my experience. I became fluent in the ins and outs of the production world, and soon enough, I led my school to purchase and set up the right equipment necessary to transform our sports filming into sports production. The goals that I made and was determined to achieve transformed our school’s sports filming. It made a way for families to watch games that were not easily accessible, leaving no games impossible to see. Even more, it allowed the growth of the community by allowing them to come together to watch the football games and other sporting events.Creating the new and improved sports production protocols for my school was a huge accomplishment that occurred in large part to my perseverance. Since its creation, I have added another person to my film team. Training her and seeing the production grow has been great. I am determined to grow others around me and to show them love. I am resolved to help communities around me and to do my best to make the world, or at least the things I touch, a better place. Because of my perseverance, I grow more and more and I never stop and I never go backward — just like my parents. They never went backward or stopped because they were determined to grow a better world and plant seeds in their children, so we could follow in their footsteps. I am honored to be able to sow seeds like them and improve the world.
