An investment thesis was drafted on each asset and subsequently presented before fund principals. One of the investments garners an annual return of 17% per annum in dividend income with further capital appreciation expected upon exit since the asset/s have since gained in value. On dividend income alone, the fund will double its principal every 6 years. • Deal structuring & transaction advisoryI was involved in the structuring of a private commercial paper amounting to USD.400K. This involved assessing the quality of assets, working capital and potential risks to ascertain whether the company’s cash flows would be able to meet interest payments.Alongside the senior analyst, a private placement memorandum was then drafted and presented before the investment committee. • Portfolio ManagementThis involves monitoring the current investment portfolio and assessing ways to maximize portfolio returns while maximizing cost efficiency. Financial models incorporating different scenarios would be done to better inform asset purchase, optimization and exit. Work also involved client meetings to gauge present developments, particularly pertaining to pre-agreed KPI’s.

• Financial modeling and analysisMy role involves building and updating financial models particularly within the banking, telecommunication, investments and manufacturing sectors. Forecasts, when compared to announced results would have an average accuracy rate of over 91% as assessed by the average standard deviation between forecasts and actual results announced. The analysis would involve analyzing market liquidity, bond subscription rate trends, secondary market trading, debt service, monetary policy, among other variables to estimate the weighted average rate of accepted bids by the CBK. Estimates had an accuracy rate in excess of 94% as measured by the rate of standard deviation between forecasts and actual acceptance rates.• Presentations to clients and formal mediaEngaged with numerous corporate clients to present investment analysis in a bid to increase interactions and drive business to the firm. I have also engaged with a number of media outlets such as CNBC Africa, Nation media group, among others to present the company's research in a bid to increase our research and company exposure.• Training of junior staffThis involved guiding interns and newly on-boarded analysts on research work.

• Did an initiation of coverage (IOC) on East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL)I conducted a global analysis of the alcoholic beverage market which involved segmenting the market by revenue and consumption, then further broke it down to look at the African continent along the same metrics, and finally key markets within the East African region, to give a more holistic view of the entire sector. This helped us to determine key drivers of growth as well as risks in the market that subsequently affect EABL thereby contributing toward a more accurate valuation of the company.• Creating daily, weekly and monthly stock and bond market analysisThis involved drafting daily and weekly reports on the performance of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) equities market to ascertain market sentiment and to estimate forward market outlook based on this data that would help guide investment decisions for clients.• Analysis of key macro and micro-economic events This involved analyzing key events that happened within the region and using said data to gauge the impact on or toward investors in both the equities and fixed income markets to inform portfolio allocation decisions. Examples of the same include an analysis of Kenya’s 2021/22 budget.
