I grew up in a sports-obsessed college town, in a family of aviators and travelers. Wanting to blaze my own trail I went out of state for college. I followed my love of sports into a Recreation major which also opened my eyes to sustainability. Ever since then I have found a way to work in better resource management to every facet of my life. My senior year, instead of a light class load, I petitioned my advisor to allow me to add a Business minor and worked for the Campus Recreation Department. After college, I was given the unique opportunity to work for Disney Cruise Line. I learned about life at sea and worked in a crew represented by 67 countries. You truly experience something special when everyone is away from family and comes together to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime trip for guests. Your crew becomes family. I made my way back to the states to teach PE and quickly started managing the Athletic Department. I made it my goal to create a program with increased participation, greater stakeholder investment and long-term financial stability. BIg change comes with small adjustments and by the end of my 7 years, I saw a PE and Athletic department drastically improve from the day I arrived. Recently, I've spent time intentionally considering next steps. I took time off to pursue a personal goal of learning to fly. As I mentioned earlier, I am in a family of aviators. Now I am looking to pivot careers. No matter what I am doing, you will always find me doing two things: finding ways to make someone's day better and learning something new. You cannot underestimate the power of relationships and you can never stop learning. Every day is a chance to give your best and grow, no matter your age or job title.
