Creating and dispersing digital content across Wayland’s web properties and marketing campaigns.

At Wayland, I work with a small team that handles Marketing, Communication and Creative. On the Creative side, I handle Photo and Video Production, which includes capturing photo, video and audio in a variety of situations; archiving digital media; editing photos for print and digital; editing video and audio during production; color correction and grading; motion graphic design; audio mixing; video rendering; and video exporting. I also work through Hannon Hill's Cascade and Wix to edit and design various web properties. For Marketing and Communication, I work as a data analyst, data engineer and solutions designer for the team’s digital efforts. This includes pageview and event tracking in Google Analytics; search engine monitoring through Google Search Engine Console; and automated reporting through Google Data Studio. I also manage the University’s Google My Business properties.

As a student worker, I consult with the marketing office to produce content and achieve their marketing goals. This has mostly involved producing videos for events or campaigns. You can find some examples in my Projects. I’ve also assisted with photography and graphic design projects when needed, and helped coordinate events or research. It’s been an incredible opportunity to directly work with the Direct of Marketing and VP of Advancement, and I’m so appreciative of Wayland for giving me this opportunity.

For the summer, I helped the IT department catalogue and remove e-waste from the campus, and deploy new computer units to staff and labs. I know most of what I know about computer science, software and hardware because of this experience. I really appreciate the IT department for teach me more than just a set of steps, but really helping me understand my tasks.

As a contractor, I’ve continued producing the Virtual Field Trip, as well as fielding and video or graphic design projects remotely. I’m so grateful to Cattle Empire for continuing to work with me. I love helping you communicate with the world, and teach them about the Ag Industry.

As an intern, I worked with the public relations office to jump start some of their initiatives into social media and content production. My primary project was to produce the Virtual Field Trip, an in-depth look at Cattle Empire’s operations. This included capturing interviews with key staff, editing 27+ topic based videos, and optimizing those videos on YouTube. I also worked on several small graphic design projects, and shot photos between shooting videos. Though I grew up Southwest Kansas, I’d never experienced the Ag Industry. I really appreciate Cattle Empire for not just giving me the creative freedom to develop my craft, but for opening up a new world for me.

At the studio, I create composites, posters, and other products in Photoshop; as well as edit and retouch photos. I’ve really enjoyed working with Don. He’s taught me a lot about the art of photography, which I didn’t have much experience with before working with him. I’ve also been able to learn about the business model and the history of the industry.

WIN-TV 6 is the student operated television station at Wayland Baptist University. As a student worker, I primarily managed the sports broadcast team, and provided training to new workers. I also managed the station as a whole, though it was mostly inactive. I also served as a equipment technician in the TV studio.

While an intern I was the host, producer, and editor of "High Plains Today", a series of 2-4 minute videos that were complementary/supplementary to local news articles that were published to the L&T website. Videos featured an abridged reading of the story, and any extra media that was collected by journalists for the story. I also collected video footage myself. I conducted several interviews and had one of my written articles printed in the newspaper.As my first job in the media industry, I learned so much in my short time with the paper. I really appreciate the Leader and Times for trying to innovate, and giving me the opportunity to try something new and develop my skills.

While at FBC, I discovered the media industry and began to imagine how I could make a career of it. Every week I was creating video announcement for the Sunday morning gathering. Producing promotional material for various ministries, and sermon series. Maintaining and posting to various social media profiles for the church. Communicating church events with members. Taking pictures and capturing video of church events. Managing and maintaining sound gear for worship team, and performing with worship team. Non-media-related jobs included setting up and tearing down events. Managing and coordinating events.
