Projects include:• New PCB designs with embedded processors.• Embedded firmware in C++ and C for various processors (TI ARM, Microchip, and STMicroelectronics) including RTOS integration.• Cloud-based databases integrated with test equipment, including Python-based AWS databases for test results.

Sold Tessive’s Time Shaper software to RealD and was hired at RealD as Senior Scientist as part of the acquisition.• Worked to rebrand Time Shaper to RealD TrueMotion.• Added new functionality to both Swift and Matlab C compiled core to support ongoing feature-film use of the system.• Developed a Linux build of TrueMotion in addition to the MacOS version. The Linux build was command-line only, built from the same source MATLAB code cross-compiled to C.• Presented at numerous conferences and trade events to highlight the use of RealD TrueMotion and advance the practice.• Worked directly with cinematographers and editors (including on-set) to ensure success of the product.• Oversaw and did all editing on RealD’s own 3D production using TrueMotion for demonstration and educational purposes, including producing the final outputs for movie theater exhibition.Worked at RealD on the next generation of polarization switchers for 3D in commercial movie theaters.• Took over responsibility for the next generation switcher electrical and firmware.• Adjusted the design of the circuit board over several prototype rounds resolving several electrical issues.• Along with one other person, completely rewrote the firmware for the system, including writing full specifications. The firmware was written in embedded C for an ARM-based microcontroller. Designed control algorithms for the liquid crystal switching cells to ensure longer lifetime and better 3D performance in movie theaters. Appointed as VP of Technology.• Became responsible for the engineering of all the RealD polarization systems, including support for the 30,000 previously deployed units.• Reported directly to the CTO of RealD and worked closely with the VP of Manufacturing to ensure high-quality deliverables.• Brought the next generation of 3D systems to market, delivering higher brightness, better contrast, and improved supportability.

Founded Tessive to develop and bring to market the Time Filter.• The Time Filter is a system for correcting judder in cinema cameras on-set. • It is a liquid crystal shutter that fits into the matte box in front of the movie camera lens and synchronizes through a control box to the camera’s framing.• With one other partner in the company, developed all the electrical systems, firmware, and optical systems needed for the Time Filter.• Achieved full ETL certification.• Brought the Time Filter to market at a Hollywood trade show in June of 2011.• Worked with camera rental houses to place the Time Filter systems, and supported their use on-set. • Developed demonstration footage to show the effectiveness of the Time Filter.• Sold the patent and intellectual property to a major cinema camera manufacturer and worked in-house to get the technology implemented into their product.Performed independent consulting for software quality processes at another company.Implemented full application lifecycle management.• Installed and configured ALM software and conducted training for the staff.• Worked with their staff to write the full specifications for their product.• Stood up build servers, revision control, and bug tracking systems.Wrote Tessive Time Shaper.• Time Shaper is a MacOS software package to allow judder reduction in cinematic workflows.• It works with major file types, including EXR, ProRes, TIFF, and DPX.• Contracted out the UI written in Swift, but did hands-on Swift maintenance. • Wrote all the core algorithms directly in MATLAB, and used MATLAB Coder to cross-compile to C for native compilation in MacOS. • Time Shaper was used in Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk for all frame rate conversion.• Sold to RealD Inc, upon which Tony became a RealD employee.

Started at a small company commercializing the computed tomography technology developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The company was acquired by 3M during this time, primarily for the computed tomography technology.Headed the engineering team that designed and built industrial and medical 3D X-ray computed tomography systems. • Custom systems included large gantry systems for rocket motors, smaller systems for electronics inspection, and everything in-between.• Specialized systems for orthodontic impression scanning enabled a revolution in clear plastic aligners in orthodontics. • Brought to market a medical system for dental patient head scanning, using GPUs for real time processing of full 3D data. Technical skills included:• MATLAB algorithm development.• X-ray data acquisition software using amorphous silicon panels.• X-ray radiographic system design, including a full theoretical model of photon statistics and conversion.• Full compute cluster system design.• Cross-functional team leadership for electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.
