CHCI provides public service and policy experiences to outstanding Latino/a/x students and manages a network of nearly 4,000 highly accomplished alumni. Provided leadership in Obama administration efforts to increase opportunities and improve outcomes in education for Hispanics of all ages. Worked with key stakeholders and communities to share federal government information and resources, and build public-private partnerships that strengthen the Latino community. Assessed impact of proposed and enacted education policies on Hispanics, and provide strategic guidance and feedback. Discussed Obama administration and U.S. Department of Education policies, priorities, initiatives, and messages with national, state, and local stakeholders and in both mainstream and Hispanic media. Served as Acting Executive Director August 2012 – April 2013.Led strategic outreach and engagement with Hispanic community for the President’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative. Managed planning and implementation of regional and national summits, policy forums, town hall sessions, roundtables, site visits, and monthly webinars, and maintained and built stakeholder network of nearly 50,000 contacts. Planned and oversaw participation of Education Secretary Arne Duncan in Hispanic community engagement events and activities.Worked closely with President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, planning events and meetings, developing subcommittee workplans, and preparing reports for public release.
