I am a mechanical engineer who designs machines that manufacture mattresses. To continue our companies dominance in the mattress industry, I work along side our senior level engineers in creating new catalog machines and constantly look for ways to innovate our existing ones.Currently, I construct meetings for designs that I am in charge of or assisting and review with my department for critiques to ensure the best design leaves our facility. I also monitor the shop when our designs are being assembled. This supervision allows a way of communication through the engineers and the assemblers. This position is an important role to improving our designs, fixing problems that may not be seen on the 3-D model, and most importantly seeing the design come to life!I introduced to the company the idea of creating a onboarding document containing all of the standards that my coworkers and I have learned through previous project/work experience. This allows new employees to have a resource to reference when questioning designs of their own and contribute faster to the team. Overall, the goal was to create a well rounded team that operates in a uniform and efficient manner. As a result, this provided a great resource for not only full-time employees but also ones working on an internship timeline.
