Independent ContractorThe Steinlite Corporation May 2016 - Aug 2016Design and authorship of a piece of software that automated the initial OEM calibration of an arbitrary number of in-house designed, custom, embedded systems, including consultation on both the limitations of the specified language and what may be done to overcome them. This software was written in C# and included features such as automatic detection of devices attached on serial ports (using Windows Management Instrumentation interface querying), communication with each device (including NIST traceable thermometer and constant temperature temperature bath), state-machine-like operation, automatic and continuous querying of each device to determine status (temperature, calibration state, etc.), a custom serial port interface, custom event-logging (including program fault status), custom and responsive Windows Forms GUI.Later work during this time included the maintenance of and addition of features to a custom display board interface that executed on an embedded Linux device. The maintenance of which included connection by and uploading necessary files through the secure shell interface (SSH) to the device, SQL query authoring and mild database management, altering program functionality for full device testing, authorship of code in C++ and utilization of the QT Framework and cross-compiled for target architecture on x64 linux. Additional features added include: addition of SQL queries to extract or insert particular data points into the on-instrument database, a class to encapsulate the behavior of a lightweight database system, code to utilize various semiconductor sensors for controlling instrument behavior, and addition of regular expression to limit user input to specific UI components.

Independent ConsultantMiscellaneous Mar 2015 - May 2016During this time, I was cutting my teeth on Android development, beginning C/C++ development with Arduino and command-line applications, C# with Windows Forms applications, and various others.Much time was devoted to work on Proffer for Industry during this time, which included cold calling local machine shops and manufacturers, doing market research and analysis, writing specifications and requirements for various aspects of the offering, and various others.Concurrent with the last nine months of this period, work began on a system to be embedded in a wax candle for simulating the movement of a real flame -- while removing the need for moving parts. This development began as an Android application that utilized a Bluetooth connection to a small Arduino circuit. From this, one could control whether the candle was on or off.
