Fróðskaparsetur Føroya (the University of the Faroe Islands) is a micro university, probably one of the smallest in the world.IT administrator at the University of the Faroe Islands (www.setur.fo), running a mixed environment of workstations and server platforms: VMware ESX, XenServer, Windows, Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop, Ubuntu and Debian Linux, Mac OSX, Novell OES2 on top of Suse Linux Enterprise Server, using NetBackup for backup. The university network was for a great number of years run ontop a remarkably reliable Novell solution - gotta love 99%++ uptime :). I am a devoted advocate of Open Source and the spirit of FOSS. I try to put as much time as possible into projects like OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice Faroese localization, Faroese spellchecking and Linux Faroese localization; in terms of computing, a more perfect world would include a fully localized Faroese Linux distribution.In inspired periods, I enjoy to do some programming, using PHP in combination with a little AJAX on the frontend and MariaDB/MySQL on backend.
