Senior Systems EngineerThe Vancouver Organizing Committee For The 2010 Olympic And Paralympic Winter Games (Vanoc) 2007 - Jun 2010Vancouver, British Columbia, Ca• Re-architected the SharePoint 2007 infrastructure at the Olympic Games for both the Intranet and Extranet sites. I inherited a challenging environment, requiring that I come up with a strategy to alter the architecture of the inadequate SharePoint infrastructure to ensure continuity of the system to the end of the Games, and repair the failing relationships between support teams. The subsequent business critical environment became faster and more efficient. I advised the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) SharePoint team on architecture, design recommendations and lessons learnt.•Strategized and implemented the SCCM 2007 architecture and infrastructure at the Olympic Games, providing an efficient software distribution, inventory and workstation build process. The resulting system provided a 90%+ software distribution success rate and an easy to use build environment for all Olympic and Paralympic Venues. Over 7000 successful builds / re-builds were carried out in the year leading up to the Games using the system. The new system saved the Olympic Games over $500,000 in licensing costs. •Collaborated closely with our Application Development teams to successfully design and implement the Winter Olympic Games' Order Portal and Rate Card system infrastructure within prescribed service level agreements. These systems were used to purchase equipment by Games’ customers, a major revenue funding tool for the Games. • Completed the Olympic Games’ software licensing needs with Microsoft using SCCM software inventory tools. This required that I have extensive knowledge of the Olympic Games’ infrastructure and business needs, coupled with an understanding of Microsoft’s licensing regulations, to ensure that the Olympic Games only paid what was needed. This was a $1 million dollar proposition. -
Senior Analyst (Canada)Hsbc Jun 2003 - Oct 2007London, Gb• Designed and built HSBC Canada’s SMS 2003 environment in support of 11,000 workstations and servers; providing software distribution, hardware and software inventory and reporting. As a result HSBC was able to make cost and time savings over the existing ad-hoc system with more efficient software delivery and establishment of licensing needs.• Led the design, configuration, migration and consolidation project for HSBC Canada’s user, workstation and server population into the North American Active Directory (AD) domain as part of a single global HSBC AD Forest. I used Quest’s migration tool to seamlessly migrate from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003. This global flagship project was completed without impact to the Business.• Implemented Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in HSBC’s AD to centrally configure and manage 21,000 users, workstations and servers; realising a large cost and time saving, as well a consistent support environment. • Architected and implemented HSBC’s Single Sign-On (SSO) integration with AD to replace the Bank’s ailing SSO application. By collaborating closely with CA’s Research and Development in Australia a more reliable and stable system was established; any outage was detrimental to revenue, and visible to customers. This integration was a first for CA in North America. • Designed the Canadian AD Organizational Unit infrastructure to enable GPO application throughout Canada.• Led both eTrust and AD support within HSBC, providing management and guidance to related support teams.• Managed the Eastern Canada proxy server cutover for HSBC Canada. Collaborated with technical teams throughout Canada, providing a unified system across Canada which resulted in reduced support and infrastructure costs and improved quality of service to the user. -
